About the Role
Using the tools and Best Demonstrated practices, they will be responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating and steward approximately 250 volunteers for the organization. The workload of this seasonal position varies from April to the end of August. The position begins part-time in April and ramps up to full-time work in the months of May through half of July and then a smaller workload on a flexible schedule the remainder of the time.
Requirements
Screening and recruiting volunteers for Front-Of House theatre performances
Developing and implementing volunteer policies, procedures and standards
Conducting volunteer information sessions
Assisting in planning & co-hosting the Annual Company Kick Off party
Providing leadership, support and coordinating training of the TUTS volunteers including motivating and enriching team performance
Planning & conducting pre-show meetings and recognition events with Volunteer teams.
Consulting with Production Manager, Stage Managers, Box Office Supervisor, Front-Of-House Managers, and other staff regarding volunteer requirements, schedules and volunteer performance
Confirming volunteers availability and scheduling volunteer shifts on Shiftboard
Creating weekly company newsletters during July & August
Soliciting outside organizations to donate or trade recognition prizes for volunteers
Tracking and recording volunteers hours and providing letters of confirmation/reference as required
Providing backup to the rest of the administrative team as necessary
Participate in set up and take down of volunteer areas
Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills, a positive disposition and ability to motivate others
Ability to take initiative, proactively anticipate the needs of production, thrive in a busy team environment and work flexible hours
Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, multi-task, and problem solve efficiently
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience
Excellent writing skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Well-rounded personality with a strong sense of professionalism, work ethic, sense of humour
Proficient skills and experience with Mac computers
• Broad knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel
Passion for the Arts
Excellent attention to detail
Additional Assets:
Experience working with non-profit Arts organizations an asset
Experience with database management software an asset
Valid BC Drivers License an asset
Salary/Wage
18.00 to 20.00
