About the Role
Are you a first responder who wants to spend your summer on a mountain bike? We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our Bike Patrol Crew this summer. Members of the Bike Patrol Crew are responsible for keeping our guests safe on the mountain. Their daily tasks include completing set-up in the morning before guests are on the hill, performing run checks and other guest service functions. Members are also responsible for accident handling, administering first aid, promoting and creating a safe environment for guests and employees, mountain sweeps and other rescue services. They are the first to ride on the trails and the last off them daily. Rounds of golf, wildflower hikes, two bike parks and lake days await on days off. Requirements
Physical Requirement:
Heavy (H) Work activities involve handling loads more than 20 kg. Predominately in an outdoor setting.
This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.
Accountabilities:
Provide the highest possible acceptable standard of pre-hospital care and rescue services for our guests and employees as required by the company
Work and communicate effectively with other groups such as K.S.A.R., BC Ambulance, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Fire Department, etc.
Ensure proper signage is appropriately placed and maintained according to industry and company standards
Learn and complete morning Pre-Opening Mountain Set-Up routes and procedures as outlined and directed
Maintain all signage and closures as required and directed
Learn and complete all evening sweep routes as outlined and directed
Participate in manual lift evacuations when required as directed
Ideal Candidate:
Current 80+ hr. First Aid Certificate or EMALB EMR/PCP
Current CPR-C Certificate
High level of physical fitness free of injury with the ability to carry a pack with first aid gear as well as avalanche gear as necessary daily
Adequate Mountain Biking ability on downhill-style trails and carrying any equipment other than a backpack
Self-motivated and able to work productively with limited supervision and under the direction of the Patrol Director, Supervisors, Lead Hands and Senior Patrollers
Able to and prepared to work outside in all weather conditions
Basic understanding of mountain resort Risk Management
Strong interpersonal skills
Willingness to always take direction positively from Risk Management Safety Director, Patrol Director, and Patrol Supervisors
PEAK Advanced Protocols an asset
PMBIA certifications an asset
Knowledge of the Sun Peaks area is an asset
Salary/Wage
20.85 - $23.95
